Workspace security and folder permissions
Rational ClearQuest version 7.0.1 introduces workspace security and a Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model for granting permissions to access workspace folders. You can control who can access and modify queries and other content in the Public Queries folder in the Rational ClearQuest Workspace.
Before Rational ClearQuest version 7.0.1, all users could access all queries, reports and other content in the Public Queries folder and its subfolder for all project areas.
The workspace security functionality is only available with feature level 6. To enable this feature, you must raise the feature level of existing databases from 5 to 6.
Raising the feature level to 6 generates the creation of an "Everyone" group that is used by workspace security. If a user administrator established an "Everyone" group in a version prior to 7.0.1, Rational ClearQuest reports an error stating that you need to rename the existing "Everyone" group before raising the feature level to 6.
Introduction to workspace folder permissions
Workspace folder permissions provide a high level of control over the visibility and modification of the Public Queries folder in the Rational® ClearQuest® workspace. This is done by allowing Security Administrators and Public Folder Administrators to assign specific permissions to user groups on specific folders.
If no permissions are defined, all users can view everything in the Public Queries folder and all its subfolders.
Permission inheritance
This topic describes concepts critical to understanding how folder permissions are inherited.
